Government Introduces Tiered Pricing for Green Electricity to Boost Renewable Energy Adoption

Kuala Lumpur, April 8, 2024 – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), has unveiled a new tiered pricing structure for the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) program, aimed at promoting renewable energy adoption across Malaysia. The program, set to a quota of 6,600 gigawatt-hours (GWh) this year, introduces lower rates to incentivize users to transition towards green electricity sources. Under the revised tariff structure, domestic and non-domestic low-voltage users will enjoy a reduced rate of 10 sen per kilowatt-hour (kWh), while non-domestic medium and high-voltage users will benefit from a rate of 20 sen/kWh.
